Tonight on Queue Points we are continuing our #1988Series by discussing the impact of Spike Lee, and his connection to music through his work. Lee released his iconic film School Daze in ‘88. The film inspired a generation of Black teens to not only pursue higher education, but to attend HBCUs. The film continues to inspire audiences today.
We will absolutely discuss Lee’s film work from a music standpoint, but also his status as a cultural icon. His iconic character Mars Blackmon was a familiar figure. The Air Jordan commercial featuring the Blackmon character often aired during Yo! MTV Raps, and became as memorable as the shoe.
