We’re back with a very special episode, and trust us, you don’t want to miss this one. This week, we welcome none other than Black music royalty, industry game-changer, and Atlanta mover & shaker: Mr. Teddy Astin!
Mr. Astin spent more than 20 years at Warner Brothers Records and was responsible for promoting some absolute giants of music.
Fun Fact: He took an 18-year-old Prince out on his first promotional tour!
We discuss his book, A Golden Past and Platinum Future, which is packed with rare, digitized photos and stories spanning decades of Black music history. Mr. Astin tells us why archiving is SO important and delights us with behind-the-scenes tales, including the infamous Madonna “Like a Virgin” promo campaign (think: Atlanta, Pope costumes and limos with police escorts!).
Until next time … Keep the record spinning!
