Honoring Trugoy the Dove
Like the rest of the world, Queue Points was heartbroken about the passing of Dave, the brilliant member of De La Soul. Here’s what DJ Sir Daniel and Jay Ray had to say while reminiscing about De La Soul’s impact on their lives on However Comma.
“Seeing those three guys, so this is 88, 89, appear on the screen, kind of nerdy, real different. I remember the “Me, Myself and I” video was classic like ‘these dudes are the weirdos in the classroom, and I also kind of felt like the weirdo. Seeing them exist in that space and own it, meant something to see dudes that were a little different rapping.”
- Jay Ray
“It's a shared grief. These are the kids that would pull pranks. They're from out in Long Island. They're goofy. They're having fun. They're not the ones that's shooting up corner stores or selling crack.”
- DJ Sir Daniel

We honored the incredible legacy of Spike Lee on our last episode of Queue Points. While there was a lot of jazz included in Spike’s films, we explored the nuance of how hip hop showed up as well. Check it out by watching it on YouTube, above, or listening to it on Spotify, below.
Shout out to the incredible Melissa Alexander aka Phyllis Iller for this homage to Spike Lee through photography.
